Faye Chiao is an award-winning composer of concert music, opera, and musical theater. Current projects include: “Island of the Moon” a chamber opera; “Rhyme & Punishment” a musical comedy (both with librettist/playwright Anton Dudley); and a full-length musical (with playwright/lyricist Tasha Gordon-Solmon). Chiao previously received The Presser Award to write and perform “To See the Stars” a multi-media song cycle celebrating the The Hubble Space Telescope, presented at the Maryland Science Center and Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum. As a founding member of the Corvus Ensemble, Chiao, an accomplished mezzo-soprano, has also toured performing original programs of art song and chamber music.
