Gregory Sullivan Isaacs is a composer and professional musician who held numerous musical directorships of opera, stage shows, choral, religious and professional and youth symphonic organizations. Currently, he is the senior classical music critic for the online arts magazine, www.theaterjones.com as well as a free-lance writer for other publications. Early in his career he sang, as well as conducted, opera and Broadway shows professionally. He is also a lecturer for The Dallas Opera and has a private studio teaching voice and coaching performers. He is an orchestrator and arranger for singers such as Mary Wilson. His education includes a high school degree from the Interlochen Arts Academy. He attended the universities of Michigan and Miami and holds a master degree in music from Indiana University, Bloomington. In 2009, Isaacs was chosen as a fellow in the NEA/Columbia Music Journalism Institute. Isaacs is a Pulitzer Prize nominated composer and writer. Other awards are a Peabody, as part of the cast for an operatic television performance, a composition grant from the American Music Center and an ASCAP award for his commitment to American Music as a conductor. His critically acclaimed three act opera for tenor and piano – “Henry Faust” – was produced for public television. A cantata for singers and a chamber ensemble, UNDELIVERED, based on President Kennedy’s undelivered speech, received a highly successful premiere in May 2014. His most recent premiere is a horn sonata for David Cooper, principal horn in the Dallas Symphony and solo horn designate for the Berlin Philharmonic starting in 2017. A new edition of all of his music is currently being released by Musik Fabrik, Paris, France.
